My goal is to create a solid vibrant EMDR therapy community in Windsor-Essex while also working toward changing the face of trauma therapy by providing social justice scholarships for therapists from marginalized communities and therapists working within marginalized communities as a way to decolonize trauma therapy. I joined the Institute for Creative Mindfulness as an affiliate Faculty member because it models what I try to embody as a therapist namely: prioritizing lived experiences and anti-oppressive principles. The Institute for Creative Mindfulness is known for focusing only on the standard EMDR therapy protocol in our initial trainings, with proper attention paid to dynamics like dissociation, complex trauma, attachment, and anti-oppression and antiracism, for optimal implementation in clinical settings. The mindfulness-informed and trauma-focused thread that runs through all of our instructional offerings makes implementation of standard EMDR therapy with more complex cases possible from the beginning of your EMDR training experience. The training components, when combined with an additional ten hours of required consultation, meet all requirements for completing an EMDRIA-approved training in EMDR therapy. Discovered by Dr. Francine Shapiro, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is one of the most researched and utilized methods in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other forms of human distress connected to trauma. Completing our full basic training approved by the EMDR International Association is a multi-tiered process. |
Trauma & Dissociation Focused Consultation with an Anti-oppressive, Anti-sanist, Antiracist, Feminist & Queer Affirming FocusI have been an EMDR therapist since 2001.
I specialize in the treatment of C-PTSD, dissociative conditions, developmental trauma, gendered violence, physical and sexual abuse, neglect, grief, racialized trauma, and chronic illness/chronic pain as well as other adverse life experiences. I believe in a multimodal approach to trauma therapy that requires me to adapt and create therapy alliances for each therapy participant. I combine parts work (IFS, ego state, inner child, Schema therapy, and Gestalt), attachment therapy, somatic psychology, yoga, insight meditation, and expressive arts within her EMDR practice. I am a feminist activist that strives to be intersectional in everything I do. I love connecting the dots between the personal issues and the political systems that advantage and disadvantage individuals based on their caste. I really enjoy working with and learning from new and experienced EMDR therapists. I continue to engage in my own EMDR Therapy and regular consultation. I have a dissociative condition and have experienced both amazing and at times harmful therapy. I love working with individuals and very small groups for consultation at all levels of a person's EMDR career. Please complete the contact form on this website indicating how frequently you would like to meet me for consultation; what days and times of day work best for you, and if you would like individual or small group consultation. |
